Jon Nuger joined Berkshire Partners in 2012 as a Vice President. Jon’s primary Berkshire portfolio company involvement includes Access, a provider of records and information management services, and Masergy, a global provider of innovative hybrid networking, managed security and cloud communications solutions. Representative prior portfolio company experience includes Melissa & Doug and SRS. Previous to Berkshire, Jon was an Associate at Golden Gate Capital, worked at a venture-backed data services company, and was an Associate Consultant at Bain & Co. Jon has an A.B. from Princeton University and a M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
ED Whelan joined Berkshire Partners in 2005 and became a Managing Director in 2012. EJ’s primary Berkshire portfolio company involvement includes Access, a provider of records and information management services, as well as prior portfolio company experience for AmSafe, Mattress Firm, Melissa & Doug, Party City and Skillsoft. Prior to Berkshire, EJ worked in the private equity industry with Summit Partners and Charlesbank Capital Partners. He also served on the management team at Sterling Auto Body Centers, a former Berkshire portfolio company, and began his career at Bain & Co. as an Associate Consultant. EJ holds a B.A. from Dartmouth College and M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
Tom Kuo joined Berkshire Partners in 2007 and became a Managing Director in 2016. Tom’s primary Berkshire portfolio company involvement includes Catalina, a provider of personalized media for consumer promotions and advertising, Masergy, a global provider of innovative hybrid networking, managed security and cloud communications solutions, and TransDigm, a leading global designer, producer and supplier of highly engineered aircraft components. Previous portfolio company involvement includes Electro-Motive Diesel, Husky and United BioSource. Before joining Berkshire, Tom worked several years in the private equity industry for companies including General Atlantic and Goldman, Sachs & Co. Tom received an A.B. from Harvard College and a M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Tyler Wick has over 18 years of private equity experience and has worked with dozens of privately held healthcare, software and information services companies over the course of his career. In addition to Accela, Tyler also serves on the Board of Directors of CitiXsys (retail management software) and alliantgroup, LP (specialty tax consulting services). Prior starting his private equity career in 1997, Tyler served in the investment banking division of Advest. Tyler graduated cum laude from Amherst College.
Mark Jung has advised Accela on strategic and operating initiatives since 2015 and has served as Accela’s Executive Chairman since early 2016. Mark brings more than two decades of enterprise software and cloud expertise in scaling private and public companies to achieve rapid and profitable growth. Earlier in his career, Mark founded and took public two separate technology companies, including IGN Entertainment which was sold to Newscorp in 2005. During his tenure at Newscorp, Mark served as COO of the Fox Interactive Media Group. Mark has held board positions at numerous public technology companies, including Yodlee, 3Par and Pinnacle Foods (NYSE: PF). He is also a member of the Board of Directors of Right to Play, the League of American Orchestras, and the Leadership Council of the School of Engineering and Applied Science at Princeton University. Mark holds an MBA from Stanford Business School and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Princeton University.
Ed Daihl is the CEO of Accela and has more than four decades of government, SaaS and systems integration experience driving top-line growth and increased margins for public and private equity-backed companies. Most recently, Ed served as Senior Vice President for Epicor, where he managed automotive and retail software solutions spanning 5,000+ clients in 11 international markets. From 2006 to 2014 Ed served as CEO for Surgical Information Systems (SIS), a leading provider of software solutions for the healthcare industry. At SIS, Ed led the release of numerous new product lines that enabled substantial revenue growth for the company, as well as significant reduction in implementation time and complexity for SIS’ customers. Previously, he also served in various executive positions including President at both CAPS Logistics and BaaN Supply Chain. Ed holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Data Processing from the University of Baltimore.
