New Accela Automation
Release Supports Self-Service Access to Government Services
Extensive new release includes more than 60 enhancements
to Accela’s e-government applications
San Ramon, Calif. (March 27, 2008) Accela,
Inc., the leading provider of government automation software solutions
that connect citizens to services 24/7, announced today the most extensive
release to-date of its signature Web-based application, Accela
Automation®. The release of version 6.5 includes dozens of strategic
enhancements that empower agencies to operate more efficiently so they
can raise customer service levels and provide citizens and the business
community easy access to services via the Internet.
Enhancements in this release support existing Accela Automation
features with robust new functionality and add new features that expand
user capabilities. Together, these enhancements enable agencies to further
streamline permitting, licensing, inspection, and asset management processes
and deliver improved response and more accurate information to customers.
“Our agency is driven by public demand for exemplary customer service,
and that includes access to self-service options,” said Application
Services Director Dan Coldiron of Fort Collins, Colorado, an Accela Automation
client since 2004. “Accela Automation is critical in helping us
keep pace with that demand. The more it enables us to improve our processes
and expand our services online, the more effective we can be in serving
our community.”
Accela Automation 6.5 includes the company’s first release of Accela
Mobile Citizen Access™, a product designed to allow contractors
to manage their permitting activities via a cell phone.
“Our vision for customer service is to provide unified application
management around a multitude of Internet-aware devices,” states
Maury Blackman, Accela president and CEO. “With this approach, contractors,
developers, and small business owners will have many options to access
information from anywhere. Our deployment of Mobile Citizen Access for
cell phones is the first of many options for next generation customer
service applications.”
In conjunction with the Accela Automation release, enhancements to Accela’s
add-on products – which expand the processing capabilities of the
backend system – were released, incorporating significant new functionality.
These products include:
Accela Citizen Access™
provides real-time, direct access via the Internet to agency permit and
land management activities. Online permit applications can be configured
to allow citizens and businesses access to apply and pay for permits,
schedule inspections, check the status of a permit or inspection, or print
an approved permit directly from the Internet 24 hours a day, seven days
a week.
Accela GIS™
seamlessly integrates with Accela Automation to provide powerful real-time
visual analysis to enhance land use, zoning, and infrastructure data.
It allows creation of multiple map layers, automated map analysis, parcel
and asset inventory management, direct editing of GIS data or files, and
auto-distribution of information to mailing lists. It is built on the
ArcIMS™ platform by ESRI®.
Accela Wireless™
is a mobile government software application that allows government staff
to perform their jobs from the field for inspections, code enforcement,
work orders, and service requests. Optimized for Intel Centrino® Mobile
Technology, Accela Wireless is compatible with PDAs, laptops, and Tablet
PCs running on the Microsoft Pocket PC 2003, Windows Mobile 5, Windows
2000, or Windows XP operating systems.
