San Ramon, Calif. (April 23,
2008) Accela, Inc., the leading provider of government automation
software solutions that connect citizens to services 24/7, has been awarded
second place in the national Creative Excellence Awards competition for
its Accela Pursuit brand awareness game. Accela won in the category of
Best Multi-Media Campaign-Employee Communications.
The competition is hosted by the Employment Management Association (EMA).
Each year, the EMA bestows its Creative Excellence Awards upon agencies
in recognition of high achievement in creative recruitment advertising.
This year's awards were judged by a panel of the finest creative and professional
talent from across the country.
Accela Pursuit, A Game of Company Knowledge was developed by Accela’s
Marketing department to engage disparate groups of employees across multiple
locations in a fun and meaningful way to get everybody on board and focused
on company goals and objectives. Weekly e-mails challenged employees to
learn about the objectives and functions of each department within Accela
– and how each department “lives the Accela brand” –
in order to answer questions and win prizes.
Ninety percent of Accela employees played at least once during the course
of the 10-week game, and 63 percent played every week on average. A survey
conducted at the conclusion of the game indicated that 100 percent of
respondents rated the game as being a valuable learning tool, and 89 percent
felt that the game provided new insights and information about Accela
that changed the way they think about the company.
Due to the success of the game and its popularity among employees, the
Accela Pursuit format will be used for other internal educational campaigns
and has been developed into an orientation tool for new hires.
“We were very pleased with how Accela Pursuit was embraced by our
employees, and how it changed the culture at Accela over the course of
just 10 weeks,” said Accela Marketing Director Cici Arabian. “It
is doubly gratifying that our efforts have now been recognized by employee
communications professionals as among the best from companies across the
U.S., Canada, and Europe.”
Grand prize in the CEA competition was awarded to recruitment marketing
and employment communications firm JWT INSIDE for its creative work on
the Expedia Employee Referral Program.
