Meet
Jerald Lo
Vice President, Product Development
Accela, Inc.
Accela welcomed Jerald Lo to the executive team
in October to lead our product development efforts.
We are very fortunate to have someone of Jerald’s
caliber fill this important new position at Accela,
and we can all look forward to the many successes
his expertise and experience will bring to our company.
Customers will have an opportunity to meet Jerald
at the 2008 User Conference in August, but in the
meantime we took the opportunity to sit down with
him so you could learn more about our new VP.
Q: What in your background most qualifies
you for this role?
Jerald: People may not realize
that Accela’s worldwide product development
team includes over 120 employees. I have had experience
leading teams that size for various technology companies
and fully understand the complexities and challenges
that this brings. I’ve also experienced the
significant accomplishments that such a group can
achieve, and appreciate the critical importance
of such successes on a company and its customers.
Q: What do you see in the future for Accela
solutions?
Jerald: I believe Accela must focus
on two strategic goals to position us for the future.
First, we must continue to develop products that
enable self-service. Our customers have come to
expect nothing less. We have already established
our leadership in this area, but we can’t
be complacent – our products need to have
the flexibility and functionality to grow along
with customer expectations. At the same time, we
have to develop our products in such a way that
they can compete in the global marketplace. Translation
and localization of our product suite creates a
lot of exciting opportunities for Accela across
the world and we are looking forward to some of
the efforts we will be making in this area.
Q: What excites you most about your new position?
Jerald: It’s important work.
I’m excited about being in a position to develop
products that help people, that manage growth and
resources, that help our customers make investments
in their communities and make those communities
better places to live.
