City of Milwaukee Awards Contract to Accela to Leverage Civic Cloud for Land Management
Cloud-Based Solutions Streamline Core Civic Processes, Enhance Transparency and Empower Field and Office Workers
SAN RAMON, Calif. – May 9, 2013 – Accela, Inc., the leading provider of civic engagement solutions for government agencies, today announced it has been awarded a contract to provide the City of Milwaukee with a multi-department cloud-based land management solution. As the largest city in Wisconsin and serving a population of 600,000, Milwaukee is home to several Fortune 500 companies in addition to a substantial manufacturing and shipping industry.
To support the growing City’s needs, Milwaukee will use the Civic Cloud to automate and streamline vital civic functions related to land management. Milwaukee will utilize Accela Automation® Land Management, Accela Citizen Access, Accela Mobile apps, Accela GIS, and Accela Electronic Document Review software across agencies including; Neighborhood Services, City Development, Public Works, Health, Zoning, and Information & Technology Management. With subscription-based licensing, civic solutions, and apps to engage citizens, agency professionals and entire communities, the City can reduce costs, support rapid economic growth and foster productive civic interactions.

Accela Civic Platform offering capabilities that Accela, the developer community, and our partners need to build, configure, deploy and manage civic applications and solutions. Accela Automation is the heart of the Platform, and it is surrounded by a complete set of platform services that address development and customer lifecycles. The platform includes Core Services, Developer Services, Configuration Services and Information Services.
Accela Citizen Access™ enabling contractors and inspectors to access services and complete processes online including permit requests, research required variances, approvals and forms, have visibility to their submittal status, and process payments. Electronic document submittal and review (EDR) will be enabled through the integration of Adobe Acrobat Professional with Accela Automation. EDR will benefit government, local business, and the community by rendering the process more streamlined and less costly.
Accela Mobile Apps allowing access to inspection information and project documents from Apple iOS devices, such as the iPhone and iPad, Android devices, and Windows 8 mobile devices and tablet PCs. Accela Mobile Apps, such as Accela Inspector and Accela Code Officer, provide greater convenience and faster turnaround time for field inspectors and end users. Accela’s Mobile Apps also include Accela GIS™, which integrates ESRI ArcGIS for Server maps with Accela Automation, allowing agency field inspectors the ability to work from a map and increase efficiency in the field with route optimization. Contractors and inspectors will be able to access services and complete processes online, including payments for permits and real-time status updates on pending permits, licenses, and service requests.
