Fort Worth Selects Accela Automation for Citywide Asset Management

Major Texas city taps Accela to provide asset management and other services for storm water, public works, and transportation needs

FORT WORTH, Texas, April 5, 2012 – Accela, Inc. announced today that the city of Fort Worth, Texas, has selected Accela Automation® to track and manage key assets. The city’s Storm Water Management Division, and the Transportation and Public Works Department will deploy Accela Automation, combined with mobile and GIS capabilities, to easily view and share information including work orders, inspections, costs and more, anywhere in Fort Worth’s more than 300-mile radius.

Spanning three counties, Fort Worth is the 16th-largest city in the United States, with a population of over 740,000 that is projected to grow to more than 1.2 million residents by 2030. To continue providing high-quality services across Tarrant, Denton, and Wise counties, the city selected Accela Automation’s asset management module to optimize and automate the maintenance, repair and replacement of its infrastructure assets and to provide excellent service to a growing population in a cost-effective way. An additional city goal is to enable its public works employees to quickly and easily share information between office and field teams, with other departments, and with the public.

The product will enable workers in multiple agencies to share information in real time and provide Public Works employees the ability to see all types of current and future work activities at any address. Accela Automation’s mobile capabilities and support for Esri’s ArcGIS Server 10 will also enable field personnel to update the City’s GIS information from work sites using mobile devices, as well as effectively plan their daily routes and assignments.

The ability of Accela Automation to integrate with the city’s project management, financial, and GIS systems was a key factor in Fort Worth’s selection process. The accompanying Accela GIS™ functionality contains advanced mapping, while Accela Mobile Office™ will help field-based inspection and maintenance teams track sanitary sewer and storm water data and perform preventative maintenance on critical water-quality assets. Mobile teams will further benefit from access to back-office maps and data, and the ability to create and store information for later syncing if wireless connectivity is lacking.

“We are delighted to have won this asset management RFP from Fort Worth and look forward to working closely with them, both now and in the future,” stated Maury Blackman, Accela CEO and President. “Our investments in mobile and ArcGIS Server are really gaining traction in the marketplace, propelling our business forward.”

Fort Worth joins a strong community of more than a dozen Accela accounts of all sizes across Texas.
