and Regulatory Affairs (DCRA) in Washington, D.C. was the second
largest undertaking by Accela in 2007. DCRA purchased code enforcement,
permitting, and licensing modules as well as Accela GIS™,
Accela Wireless, and Accela Citizen Access™. A representative
from DCRA will describe the efforts and lessons learned in various

Case Study: Implementing an Improved Complaint Process (Cleveland,
Ohio)
Faced with not being able to accurately report results of Complaints,
send follow-ups or final results to the Mayor's office or Council
members, or track what number of violation citings resulted from
a complaint, the Cleveland Department of Building and Housing requested
assistance from IT to get a better grasp of how complaints were
being received and tracked. A representative from the department
will show how correctly identifying and mapping a streamlined process
and configuring a new CAP type in Accela Automation improved the
process, increased accountability, and virtually eliminated the
massive amounts of paper used and the ensuing paper trail.
