Washington County inspectors improve productivity with Accela Wireless

The Challenge

Although Washington County had automated many of its land management activities, the inspection process was still paper-based. This system challenged the efficiency of inspectors in the field and prevented managers from collecting metrics on the department’s performance.

The Solution

The County implemented Accela Wireless to facilitate direct, real-time access to data from a mobile device in the field. Inspectors use the application to automate inspection management activities including permit/parcel research, data entry, and inspection sign offs. The solution also provides department leaders with the metric data they need to better allocate resources.

The Result

Since implementing the mobile government application, the County has been seeing great Result. The time needed for administrative tasks by the inspectors has been cut by approximately one hour per day for all inspectors, which means more inspections can be completed to meet the growing needs of the community.
