What’s New in Accela Automation 6.6? Release Recap

Included below is an overview of the major new features in version 6.6. For a complete list of the new features and resolved issues in this release, please contact the Customer Resource Center.

Accela Automation Common Services and Features

New Features
Expand Record Set – Implements a new framework Query Engine and removes limitation to return only 100 records in certain list portlets.

Load Balance Accela Vantage360®
– Enhances the Accela Automation 6.6 installer and enables load balancing on the business application server.

Sequence Generation – Creates a unified masked sequence generation service that is both thread safe and cluster safe. Previously, this mechanism applied only to the CAP Key (CAP ID1, ID2 and ID 3) / CAP ID (Alt ID) / Project Number / Receipt Number.

Batch Timeout – The configuration in the application server of JBoss is updated, and the duration of time out for EMSE Batch Job is extended.

Limit Viewing of Workflow and Inspection Result Comments – From either the Accela Vantage360 Administrator portlet or Admin Tasks in Accela Automation Classic, you can restrict access to comments for inspection results and workflow tasks to Accela Citizen Access™ users.

Provide Option to Not Display Parcel Conditions – Enhances the condition definition functionality and adds the option for a condition to display Parcel Conditions in Accela Citizen Access.

Update Accela Vantage360 Login Screen – Creates a new login page. For self-hosted sites, an administrator can also customize the agency logo and title in the page. The system provides an option for agency to logoff inactive users automatically after timeout.

GovXML/Inspector Enhancement – Enhances the GetInspectors GovXML call in the Accela Automation application server to return the telephone number of inspectors to the client. The Accela Automation Classic user profile has updated functionality to allow the administrator to maintain inspectors’ telephone numbers.

Accela Asset Management™

New Features
CAP Detail Description Exposed to EMSE – Exposes these additional CAP fields to the Event Manager Script Engine (EMSE) scripts: Actual Prod. Units, Assigned to Department, Assigned to Staff, Date Assigned, Date Opened, Detailed Description, Est. Prod. Units, Priority, Reported Date, Reported Time, Reported Type, Scheduled Date, Short Notes

Preventative Maintenance Rules
– Extends the functionality around generating Preventative Maintenance (PM) schedules to match and exceed that available in the AMS Classic product. Here is the list of new functionalities: Generate Work Orders for Child Assets up to n level(s),
Include Child Assets in Parent Items Work Order, Link Asset Addresses to Work Orders, Link the Primary Asset Address Only, Include Addresses in Asset’s Work Order, Generate single Work Orders for all Addresses

Increase Part Field Sizes – Increases the Part Number field from 15 characters to 50, and increases the Part Type field from 30 characters to 50.

ArcGIS Server-AAM-AW
– Supports the Accela Asset Management related Accela GIS™ and Accela Wireless™ feature in the 6.5 patch. GovXML functionalities in Application Server have been updated.

Work Order Bulk Update – Adds the ability to perform a bulk update to Work Order and Service Request (CAPs) detail information.

Parts Reservations
– Adds two additional transaction types for parts: soft reservation and hard reservation. Users can earmark parts for a specific Work Order. The soft reservation is only to notify the warehouse. The hard reservation locks down the parts.

Accela Land Management™

New Features

Parcel Trust Accounts – Enhances Trust Account functionalities. Administrators can associate the trust account with a parcel and address. Users can auto-pay or pay a fee from any trust account associated with the parcel or address of the current CAP.

Time Accounting – Provides the ability for the agency to capture the amount of time their employees spend performing their daily tasks, the descriptions and costs of materials used while performing those tasks, and the usage of vehicles related to the performed tasks.

Share Drop-Down Lists – Provides the ability to build a drop-down list of values. Users can reuse it in the definition Application-Specific Information (ASI) and workflow Task-Specific Information (TSI).

V360EditInspection – Provides the ability to edit the inspection in Accela Vantage360 after the results are submitted.

Inspection Calendar Extension – Extends the inspection calendar functionality by adding the following items: Weekly Calendar View for Admin and User Calendars, Inspection Disciplines to the Inspection Calendar, Auto-assign Inspection now supported in Inspection Calendar Feature, Allow for Same Day Inspection Scheduling, Inspection Cut-off Time, Schedule for Next Available AM or PM time block, Inspector Workload Calendar.

Township, Range, and Section Number Data to CAP
– Adds the ability to store values from the reference parcel tables in the transactional tables (CAP table) representing Township, Range, and Section Number (TRS).

Address Type Enhancements – Allows address records to be associated with multiple Address Types. These address types are then leveraged in Searching logic when creating CAPs to limit the Address records that can be used for certain CAP Types.

Create CAP from GIS – Adds the ability to create a new CAP from Accela GIS and choose whether to create multiple CAPs or one CAP for selected Parcels. It also provides a CAP Type picker in the CAP Type Selection page when creating a new CAP.

PCI Compliance – The Payment Card Industry (PCI) requires the implementation of security measures to safeguard consumer credit card information from fraud, hackers, or other security vulnerabilities and threats. Accela provides the PABP (Payment Application Best Practices) Implementation Guide to assist hosted and self-hosted sites maintain PCI Compliance.

Accela Licensing & Case Management™

New Features

Allow Duplicate LP Number
– Enhances the Reference Licensed Professional functionality to allow the same license number for Licensed Professionals who have different License Types.

New Licensing Fields – Adds five new database fields in CAP Detail specific and CAP list for the Licensing process:
• Status Reason – Explains why the CAP is set to a certain status
• SSN – This field will be used to store Social Security numbers such as 123-12-1234. After saving the data, the
SSN will be displayed as ***-**-1234
• FEIN – This field will be used to store the Federal Employer ID Number, for example, 12-3456789
• First Issued Date – Date field that is populated by the user.
• DBA/Trade Name – One new license field for feature 08ACC_00504 Smart Choice Enhancements

Workflow Event Manager Script Engine Enhancements – Enhances the Workflow EMSE script application program interface (API) as follows: updates task attributes, copies a task, removes a task, inserts a task, adds a sub-process, removes a sub-process.

Renewable License
– Addresses the need to provide a process for renewing licenses in Accela Citizen Access. When a license is ready for renewal, a user should be able to access the license to begin the renewal process. When a new renewal CAP is created as a child CAP to support the renewal ad associated to the license CAP, key information from the original license CAP copies to the new renewal CAP. The CAP type to be used for the renewal process is configured and associated with the parent license CAP so the user does not have to select from a list of renewal CAP types to begin the renewal process.

Product Roadmap
The next release of Accela Automation will be version 6.7 and is scheduled for release January 2009.
