Santa Clarita, California, Chooses Accela Civic Platform to Modernize Technology Infrastructure

City Taps Civic Cloud to Streamline Operations and Enhance Transparency

Accela, the leading provider of cloud-based civic engagement solutions for government, announced today that the City of Santa Clarita, California, has selected the Accela Civic Platform for its new software foundation. The City will work with Accela and infrastructure management firm Woolpert on a citywide upgrade to the technology infrastructure that supports its government, business and citizens.

Santa Clarita is the third largest city in Los Angeles County, with more than 176,300 residents. Based on a range of Accela technologies, the initiative to modernize the technology foundation meets important priorities established by the Santa Clarita City Council: to continue ensuring the transparency of government business and to make it easier for citizens and businesses to engage with the City. Initial focus areas for the upgrade include the permitting and asset management systems that play a critical role in everyday operations of the City.

“We are excited to work with Santa Clarita as we aim to provide real-time access and resources that support progress and pave the way for civic engagement and economic growth,” said Maury Blackman, Accela President and CEO. “Accela’s Civic Platform will provide citizens and government agencies with the digital backbone and online and mobile capabilities they will need to continue to thrive into the future.”

The new infrastructure for Santa Clarita will be hosted on the Accela Civic Cloud, which will provide access to a number of tailored solutions and applications. Santa Clarita will initially implement Accela Asset Management and Accela Land Management as well as Citizen Access, GIS and mobile capabilities. With the Accela Civic Platform, the City will be able to easily add new solutions and applications as its effort to modernize continues.

“The City of Santa Clarita is a gateway to the Los Angeles basin,” said Larry Cooper, program manager at implementation partner Woolpert. “Having a next-generation system like the Civic Platform allows the City to provide more services to its citizens and constituents with the most up-to-date technology.”
