Accela Names Rob Cassetti Vice President of Sales, North America
Seasoned executive with extensive sales and management experience in the public sector joins government software company for its next phase of growth and innovation
SAN RAMON, Calif., November 20, 2012 – Accela, Inc., the leading provider of web-, cloud-, and mobile-based software applications for greater government productivity and citizen engagement, today announced the company has appointed Rob Cassetti as Vice President of Sales, North America. Cassetti will focus on establishing sales objectives and strategies to expand Accela’s growth in subscription sales (SaaS), cloud computing, and the mobile applications markets in North America.
Cassetti joins Accela with 16 years of extensive sales and management experience in the public sector market. For more than 14 years he served in multiple positions with Fortune 500 Silicon Valley company, Cisco Systems, which manufactures and sells networking products and services.
Most recently, as Cisco’s Director of Service Sales for the U.S. Western Area State and Local Government and Education segment, Rob oversaw sales and business development planning for new service offerings, licensing models, and program management for the $300M business of hardware and software maintenance, advisory, and professional services.
Previously Cassetti served as the Senior Sales Manager for the U.S. Public Sector segment of the WEBEX division of Cisco, where he built a new team of Cloud Collaboration Sales Specialists across the U.S., focused on education plus federal, state, and local government customers. Cassetti led a global effort with Product Marketing, Finance, and Senior Management to create Cisco’s first ever segment-specific pricing and licensing framework for SaaS products targeted to education customers, and expanded the number of application partners participating in the company’s Developer Program.
Cassetti’s focus for the past 16 years on strategic planning and sales management in government and education technology sales developed from the diversity of his early career. After teaching for several years in the New York City public school system, he worked in sales for authorized Apple Education sales agent, Education Access. In that position, Cassetti increased sales for Apple Computer products and third-party education software in the U.S. Southwest.
“Rob provides the expertise in sales strategic planning and execution, and the successful track record that our growing business requires,” said Accela CEO and President Maury Blackman. “He will be an invaluable asset to Accela as we position the company for its next phase of growth and innovation, particularly in the SaaS, cloud computing, and mobile apps government markets of North America.”
“I am impressed by Accela’s commitment to innovation, technology leadership, and customer satisfaction in the public sector,” said Cassetti. “I look forward to working with the Accela sales team to help the company further strengthen its impressive position in the government software industry, expand our SaaS subscription business, and position Accela as the leader for cloud solutions for state and local agencies.”
