Placer County Selects Accela Civic Platform to Engage Citizens, Streamline Civic Processes, Improve Cross-Department Communication
Upgrade Provides County Access to Mobile Solutions and GIS Enhancements
SAN RAMON, Calif. – June 25, 2014 – Accela, the leading provider of civic engagement solutions for government, announced today that Placer County, California, has replaced its existing Kiva solution with the Accela Civic Platform. The Accela Civic Platform will give the County the ability to offer a number of services online to benefit both residents and employees, offering enhanced communication with citizens, increased transparency and streamlined workflow. The Land Management solution will enable the County to automate permitting, inspection and code enforcement activities while giving citizens access to these services online, wherever and whenever it is convenient. Today, agencies of all sizes are leveraging the Civic Platform to manage civic functions for Land and Asset Management, Licensing, Legislative Management, Recreation and Resource Management and Public Health and Safety.
Placer County is known for its diverse geography that covers 1,400 square miles and includes picturesque farmland and Gold-Rush era towns that dot the foothills. The County stretches from the suburbs of Sacramento to Lake Tahoe and the Nevada Border. The agency was seeking a solution to help engage with its diverse population, streamline process and workflow internally and improve intra and cross-department communication by offering a better, more simplified view into activities.

Specifically, Placer County will leverage:
Accela Citizen Access: A cost-effective way to move traditional counter and call center services to the web, providing citizens with easy and convenient multi-language online access to the County’s permitting, building and planning information and activities.
Accela Mobile Office: Designed specifically for field use and leveraging the latest in mapping technology, Accela Mobile Office will help agency staff create inspections, investigations, work orders and code enforcement cases from the field. Department field workers will be supported by Accela GIS, which integrates Esri ArcGIS maps with the Civic Platform.
Accela GIS: Provides a robust solution utilizing geospatial data to improve decision-making and help streamline processes. Accela GIS provides a geographic view of all land-use, zoning, and infrastructure information associated with parcels, permits, code cases and inspections.
