SAN RAMON, CA – July 28, 2014 – Accela, a leading provider of civic engagement solutions for government agencies, announced the Accela Engage 2014 conference sponsors. Accenture has signed on as the title sponsor of the event, which runs August 4-8 at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina in San Diego, CA. Additional conference sponsors include: Woolpert, 21 Tech, ACI Worldwide, Appallicious, Bentley Systems, Beyondsoft, Brother Mobile Systems, Buildingeye, CityGovApp, City Sourced, e-PlanSoft, Esri, GCOM, Infrastructure Technologies, Lead IT, Redmark Technologies, Selectron, TP Systems, Truepoint, Civic Insight, VuSpex, Byrne Software Technologies and IK Consulting.
“Accenture is recognized as a leader in providing consulting, strategy and technology services, and we know we will benefit from the global expertise of such a widely respected organization as our lead sponsor,” said Maury Blackman, Accela President and CEO. “We believe that Accenture will help bring unique insights and practical innovations to our conference attendees.”
Each year, Accela brings together government agency customers, partners and developers from around the world for classes, training and networking with the goal of bridging the gap between agencies and citizens to build better government and better communities.
“Accenture is committed to helping government agencies, of all sizes, in their goal of delivering public service for the future,” said Ryan Oakes, managing director in Accenture’s state and local government practice. “We believe the Accela Engage2014 conference is a terrific platform for government agencies to exchange ideas and learn new ways to embrace technology and accelerate returns on their IT investments.”
In addition to user training, best practices and live demos, Accela announced that Tim O’Reilly, founder and CEO of O’Reilly Media and proponent of civic technology, and Jennifer Pahlka, founder and executive director of Code for America, will be the keynote speakers on Tuesday, August 5, in addition to speakers from Accenture and Woolpert. O’Reilly’s original business plan was simply “interesting work for interesting people” and expanded from that idea. In addition to publishing books, running conferences and investing in early-stage startups, his writings and speeches have played a key role in understanding the evolution of the Internet as a platform, and he has been a catalyst for Gov 2.0 “government as a platform” efforts at the federal, state and local level. Jennifer Pahlka recently served as the U.S. Deputy Chief Technology Officer in the White House Office of Science and Technology and she is well known for her TED talk, Coding a Better Government.
“We are thrilled to host Tim and Jennifer at our annual conference,” continued Blackman. “Tim’s views on disruptive and sustainable technology and Jennifer’s deep understanding of the value of technology in creating more transparent and engaged government will resonate with our audience of agency customers. We look forward to hearing their views on trends and best practices for government agencies of all sizes.”
