Our user conference is just over two weeks away, and the team at Accela is hard at work making final preparations. We have a lot of great sessions and networking opportunities in store, and we’re looking forward to seeing many of you in San Diego. (If you would like to attend but have not yet signed up, you can register online through August 2, 2013.)

So, what makes this user conference different than previous ones? First, you may have noticed that we changed the name of the event to Accela Engage. We did this to reflect the shift within many communities toward improving the delivery of government services through civic engagement. Agencies of all sizes can now deploy cloud, web, mobile and social technologies to more effectively engage with their constituencies, meet changing regulatory and compliance standards and manage civic functions. This is something that our customers are embracing, and it is this two-way collaboration that is opening up the door to even greater productivity and cost efficiencies —with the added bonus of not only maintaining but also growing vibrant communities.

Second, with over 60 user and product sessions, up to  20 hours of training and opportunities to network and engage with Accela experts, clients and partners, our goal is to make this the most valuable and collaborative conference yet. I’m excited to kick off the event by offering some thoughts on the future of government technology and showcase some amazing products and solutions.  On Tuesday, we’ll be joined by Steve Largent, CTIA Wireless President & CEO, Seattle Seahawks Hall of Fame Wide Receiver and Former Representative from Oklahoma’s First Congressional District.  We also have some fun activities planned, including a Customer Appreciation Dinner at the San Diego Zoo and an evening out on the town in San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter. You can view the agenda for more details.

Our customers – state, local and federal government agencies — are at the forefront of civic engagement. Together we are enabling citizens and businesses to participate in and manage key civic functions, when, where and how they want. Accela Engage is an opportunity for these civic leaders to keep current with the latest technologies, get more out of their Accela solutions and learn from one another by sharing stories and best practices. By working together, we will uncover new opportunities to make a difference in our communities and to foster Civic Good.
