Galveston County Health District Selects Accela as the Digital Foundation of its Regulatory Programs

Cloud-based technology enables Galveston County Health District to more effectively manage public health and safety processes and improve critical resident services

(San Ramon, Calif. – January 7, 2020)Accela, the leading provider of cloud-based solutions for government, today announced Galveston County Environmental Health District selected Accela’s Environmental Health solution as the digital foundation of its regulatory programs. By leveraging Accela’s cloud-based software, the district will streamline essential health and regulatory processes to preserve and improve the well-being of its communities.

“Galveston has a history of data-driven decision making, drawing from inspection history, assessing risk, and assigning resources accordingly,” said Darryl Booth, General Manager for Environmental Health at Accela. “Accela and its partners have organized this project to establish high confidence from day one, allowing the Environmental Health Services Department to focus on protecting the public’s health.”

With Accela, Galveston County Health District will be able to more effectively regulate a wide range of public activities and services, including food service establishment, public pools, temporary events, water samples, septic projects, and even outdoor burn registration. Galveston inspectors may soon begin using iPads or Android tablets to conduct routine and follow-up inspections while business operators will soon renew and pay fees online, all in line with a larger COVID-19 safety strategy for the region.
