Capes4Heroes Joins Forces with Accela

Executives Cook Breakfast at San Ramon Headquarters to Raise Awareness and Funds for Local Organization

DANVILLE, Calif. – April 14, 2015 – Accela, a San Ramon-based government software company, is partnering with Capes4Heroes to make a difference in the lives of children battling life-threatening illnesses and disabilities. Accela will host a breakfast at its headquarters in Bishop Ranch on April 15, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. to raise money for the local organization.

Accela executives will spend the morning preparing breakfast for employees as a fundraiser for Capes4Heroes. All proceeds will benefit the organization, and the funds will be used to make capes for the children at UCSF in San Francisco and George Mark Children’s House in San Leandro. Additionally, Accela employees will have the opportunity to donate to a child directly.

Capes4Heroes, a 501c3 charity based in the Bay Area, presents superhero capes to children dealing with life-threatening illnesses, disabilities or life struggles to help them showcase their strength and courage. The handmade capes are presented to children at hospitals, Ronald McDonald Houses and camps throughout the United States.

“We want to help Capes4Heroes empower even more children who are facing illness and medical treatments,” said Maury Blackman, Accela’s President and CEO. “By simply cooking breakfast for our staff, we can help raise hundreds of dollars for this meaningful organization. We hope to bring capes and smiles to the faces of children across the Bay Area. It’s a way for us to help showcase who the true superheroes are.”

“It is amazing how one single cape can have such a profound impact,” says Barbara Casados, Capes4Heroes Founder. “We’re proud to have Accela partner with us. As a local company committed to helping government build better communities, it makes sense that they’d want to give back to benefit Bay Area children. The capes they fund will lift spirits and bring joy to the children and their families.”

Capes4Heroes Founder Barbara Casados and her team of volunteers continue to be the driving force of the organization. Their goal: to recognize and empower children, to make them smile, and to show them that they are the true superheroes. To date, they have distributed more than 10,000 capes in California and beyond.

In addition to distributing capes at hospitals and camps, Capes4Heroes also finds deserving children and generous sponsors through Facebook and their website.
