Gary Kovacs

Gary Kovacs is Accela’s Chief Executive Officer, overseeing the company’s mission-driven growth, strategic direction, and long-term value for its stakeholders and customers worldwide.
Gary has more than 25 years of enterprise software and mobile technology industry leadership and executive management experience. Prior to Accela, Gary served as CEO of AVG Technologies, a global leader in consumer and enterprise security software. Previous to this, he was CEO of Mozilla where he led the overall direction of the organization and the development and delivery of the Firefox browser and cloud services used by over 500 million people worldwide. Gary has held senior executive positions at SAP (Sybase), Adobe (Macromedia), and IBM and was also a founder of NASDAQ listed Zi Corporation which went on to develop patents and solutions for embedded technologies on over 200 million mobile devices worldwide including predictive text input.
Gary is a frequent public speaker and has delivered keynote addresses at TED, the World Economic Forum (Davos & Shenzhen), Mobile World Congress, Clinton Global Initiative, F.ounders, All Things Digital /Code/ Re/Code, Fortune Brainstorm, among many others. He is a board member for numerous mission-driven technology companies and not-for-profits including Make-A-Wish and Runway Capital, and serves on the advisory boards of DocuSign and the University of Calgary.
Gary attended the University of Calgary’s Haskayne School of Business, earning a Masters in Business Administration and a Bachelors in Commerce with a major in Finance.
