Accela Acquires Springbrook Software to Offer Cloud-Based Financial Software for Local Government and Softright for Municipal Efficiency

Acquisitions Make Accela the Largest and Most Robust Software Platform for Government, Being Used by More Than 2,000 Agency Customers Worldwide

Accela, innovators of civic engagement solutions for government, announced today that it has acquired Springbrook Software, based in Portland, Oregon, and SoftRight, based in Westford, Massachusetts. Springbrook’s nationally renowned solutions will anchor the Finance & Administration solution suite on the Accela Civic Platform with SoftRight’s regionally specialized products bolstering the offering. The Accela Civic Platform modernizes government agencies, introduces time-saving workflows, streamlines interactions, and engages citizens by improving communications and transparency.

Every day government agencies are demanding new solutions and technologies to make their business run more efficiently and to better serve their constituents. The addition of Springbrook and SoftRight solutions will further elevate the Accela Civic Platform into a class of its own – bringing Fortune 500-caliber tools and solutions to the public sector. Customers will benefit on day one via the added breadth of solutions all coming from a single provider, eliminating complexities associated with engaging multiple software providers or disjointed divisions within legacy companies.

“The acquisitions of Springbrook and SoftRight will revolutionize the Civic Platform and the way local government operates. Springbrook and SoftRight understand the challenges that local governments face and have each developed dynamic solution suites and built strong portfolios of agency customers,” said Maury Blackman, Accela CEO and President. “Accela can now offer an unrivaled platform approach that fits municipalities and special districts small and large. We will innovate faster, offer more comprehensive solutions, and support our agency customers and their citizens with a level of service that no one else in this business can.”

The rapid adoption of innovative and productive technologies in the government sector has fueled Accela’s growth. While Accela reported more than 500 customers in 2013, that number now exceeds 2,000 agency customers globally, representing a 300 percent increase in the government agencies selecting Accela to help modernize the way they operate and serve citizens.

“We’re thrilled to join Accela at such an exciting time and to come together to provide the best platform for government,” said Steve Rementeria, Springbrook CEO. “Together, we are poised to deliver a complete solution to our government agency customers that will fuel change, enable massive efficiencies in financial accounting and help transform the way government operates.”

“Tigard is committed to implementing and maintaining technologies that streamline workflow and make the best use of our limited resources so we can focus on the quality services we offer to local citizens and businesses. For over a decade, Accela and Springbrook have provided the City of Tigard with the type of stable, flexible and forward-thinking solutions that have been helping our agency stay progressive with our technology,” said Toby LaFrance, Finance and Information Services Director for Tigard, Oregon. “We look forward to working with them both and to the measured innovation forthcoming from their combined efforts.”

The acquisitions come on the heels of the recent announcement that Accela secured $143.5 million in new funding, which is now being deployed to expand the capabilities and reach of its flagship Accela Civic Platform.
