Accela Launches its Spring 2023 Product Release with New Features to Help Government Agencies Improve Security, Enhance User Experience and Ease System Administration

San Ramon, Calif. (March 30, 2023) — Accela, the trusted provider of cloud solutions at the heart of government, today announced its Spring 2023 Release. The latest release includes enhancements to the Accela Civic Platform, Accela Citizen Access, Accela Mobile and Civic Applications, with a focus on modernization, improved user experience and security, and easier implementation. The Spring Release also features several updates to ensure a smooth migration from on-premise and legacy systems to Accela’s SaaS solutions.

“We hear from government CIOs and technology leaders every day that moving to cloud-based solutions and consolidating on one, trusted IT platform is a top priority,” said Brian Wick, vice president of product marketing at Accela. “Accela’s Spring 2023 Release includes numerous updates, many derived from customer feedback, to help our government partners accelerate their digitization, realize time and cost savings, and create improved experiences for residents and staff alike. Accela is proud to be trusted by so many municipalities, and we will continue innovating to help governments meet their communities’ needs – now and in the future.”

The Spring 2023 Release includes Accela Civic Platform V23.1.x, with ease of use improvements for both SaaS and on-premise customers. All platform users will be able to modify space management settings and view additional address details on record headers, enhancing productivity. And to manage licensed professionals in the system more efficiently, enhancements have been made to Accela’s “Construct” API package, accommodating two-way integrations and data synchronization with state license boards.

The Civic Platform update also has SaaS-exclusive enhancements, benefiting customers in the cloud, including:

  • Displaying directional suffixes, such as NW, SW, East or South, on the global search record list to quickly access complete address information.
  • The ability to make reports generated by Crystal Reports, used for insights and decision-making, public or private to ensure they are only accessible to users with adequate permissions.
  • A PayPal Commerce integration, enabling agencies to accept payments either online or in-office via the Civic Platform or Accela Citizen Access with a PayPal account, credit, or debit.

The PayPal Commerce integration is secure and PCI-compliant, and its no-code nature reduces staff time needed for implementation. It also offers transparent visibility and reporting on all transactions, and features a competitive pre-negotiated rate exclusive to Accela’s customers.

In addition, the Spring 2023 Release features significant updates to Accela Citizen Access (ACA) and Accela Mobile. ACA updates cover several usability improvements like streamlining registration for resident users, improving the address range search and raising administration efficiency and security.

For Accela Mobile, enhancements include:

  • Availability to use ESRI’s Federated Authentication capabilities for increased security.
  • Adding observational and appended checklists, inspection grades, and inspection time features to increase flexibility, reduce implementation costs and time, and improve reporting.
  • Implementing the first of many phases of multi-language capabilities, with Arabic language support.
  • Availability in the Amazon Appstore for Window 11 users to simplify installation.

With the Spring 2023 Release, Accela built out its collection of pre-packaged user interfaces for all of its Civic Applications including Building, Planning, Business Licensing and Cannabis Regulation. These encompass UI assets for rich informational displays, pre-qualification capabilities and a modern, intuitive experience for residents, all from a low-code/no-code web development environment. The expansion will help agencies launch Civic Applications quicker, build or manage websites easier, and save time and money by encouraging communities to use online resources.

All Spring 2023 Release updates will be implemented by June 2023. For full details, see the blog here.
