Govtech leader expands its work with the county, will help to modernize critical public health program
San Ramon, Calif. (June 2, 2022) — Accela®, the trusted provider of cloud solutions for government, today announced that it was selected by Suffolk County, New York to lead its Public Health Food Protection Program. The Food Protection Program is responsible for protecting the public health by establishing safeguards for the control of food and preventing consumption of unwholesome, adulterated or otherwise unfit food. Each year the Food Protection Program issues more than 7,000 food service establishment permits, conducts more than 6,000 inspections and investigates approximately 600 consumer complaints.
The County will leverage Accela’s Environmental Health solution which streamlines public health protection by combining all program data into one system, and automating the application submission, plan review, inspection, and permitting process to reduce reliance on internal IT departments. By automating the manual processes that go into receiving applications for plan reviews, permit renewals, and enforcement actions, agency staff are freed up to focus on strategic projects like improving business owner outreach and education on environmental health best practices.
